Success Doesn’t Clock In Only When You Feel Like It

Your success will depend on your work schedule because you will only achieve results when it is convenient for you. Read that again. Let it marinate. Success does not bend to your mood because most people fail to understand this reality.

Discipline > Motivation

Motivation works well during its periods of availability. But let’s be honest, it’s flaky. Your friend who promised to assist you with your move becomes absent when you need them most. Your friend Discipline appears at all times regardless of weather conditions without making excuses to carry boxes and ask about the next task. The world’s most successful people continue their presence even when they don’t feel like showing up because they get things done. Why? The successful people have created systems and established habits and set standards that operate independently from emotional responses. They’ve removed the option to flake on themselves. A dreamer and a doer differ through their ability to show up regardless of comfort.

The path to greatness does not accommodate comfort-based scheduling. People who keep their actions trapped in perfect conditions before taking steps will remain in neutral forever. Success occurs in the difficult to navigate middle ground where people demonstrate presence despite their exhaustion and uncertainty and frustration.

Growth is a grind. Show Up, Especially When You Don’t Want To The gym on the day you’d rather binge Netflix? The genuine progress occurs at this point. The early morning when your bed feels like heaven? Leaders transform during this specific time. The hard conversation you’d rather put off? The development of your character occurs in that situation. The most important actions require the most effort from the aspects where you resist taking action. The difference emerges between people who talk about wanting it and those who actually take the necessary actions.

Make Consistency Your Competitive Advantage Having talent provides an initial advantage but only motivation provides a short-term boost of energy. But consistency is what gets you to the finish line. When you establish a habit of working regardless of your emotional state you will become unbeatable. You should demonstrate presence during the most difficult moments rather than just appearing when things are easy.

Habits determine your position in life because your actions sink to the level of your daily routines. At this point the question emerges about which habits you rely on during times of motivational decline.
